V60

Coffee: 20gr (medium grind - EK43: 10.5 similar to coarse sand)

Water: 320g total

Water Temperature: 92 °C (197.6°F)

Filter: V60

Brew Time: ~2:30–3:00 minutes

Water Source: Ideally filtered to 100ppm TDS, 40 ppm hardness, PH: 8

Brew Parameters

Medium Roast | 1:16 Ratio | 5 Pours

Brew Steps V60

Flavor: A clean, sweet cup with rounded mouthfeel, hazelnut and caramel notes, and a gentle dried-fruit character. Aim for balanced acidity and a pleasant finish, with little bitterness or drying astringency.

Pro Notes

Rinse the conical paper filter with hot water to preheat the V60 and server. Discard the rinse water. Add the ground coffee, gently level the bed, and tare the scale.

Agitation: A gentle swirl after the bloom helps degas evenly and improve extraction. Avoid stirring during later pours to maintain clarity.

Grind: If the brew runs beyond 3:30 and tastes bitter or drying, try a slightly coarser grind or gentler pouring. If it finishes before 2:45 and tastes sour or thin, try slightly finer. Let taste guide your adjustments rather than chasing time alone.

Serving Tip: Let the coffee rest for 2–3 minutes before tasting: the flavor structure opens as temperature drops.

The 320 g refers to water poured. The final beverage weight will be lower because the grounds retain water.

Bloom

Start the timer and pour 60 g of water, evenly wetting all the grounds. Give the brewer one gentle swirl to help saturate the coffee. Allow it to bloom until 0:30.

First Pour

At 0:30, add 60 g, bringing the scale to 120 g total. Pour in small, controlled circles over the coffee bed, avoiding pouring directly onto the exposed paper. Finish in approximately 10 seconds.

Second Pour

At 1:00, add 60 g, bringing the scale to 180 g total. Keep the kettle low and maintain a gentle, steady stream.

Third Pour

At 1:30, add 60 g, bringing the scale to 240 g total. Continue with controlled pour, without stirring or repeatedly swirling.

Final Pour

At 2:00, add the remaining 80 g, bringing the scale to 320 g total. Finish pouring around 2:15, then let the water drain through. Aim to finish around 3:00–3:15.
